The Team at Alderbank Physiotherapy Clinic have great pleasure in announcing the Sponsorship of a local young man from Elston lane, Jake Higham, who has been successful in his selection to compete for Team GB in the ‘Age Group Team’ in the ‘Standard distance Duathlon’ at the World Championships in Australia.
Jakes training and competing in many Triathlons and Duathlons throughout 2023 have finally paid dividends. He will be departing for Australia on the 9th of August, via Dubai, then onto Brisbane before reaching his final destination of Townsville in Queensland, which is the venue for the World championships on the 18th of August. The event includes a 10K run, 40K bike ride and finally a further 5K run against the best in the world.
As one will appreciate, this not only comes with a great deal of hard work and personal sacrifice, but also incurs a huge cost. The selection of a place in the World Championships does not come with any funding and Jake has had to self fund all of his own travel and training expenses, medical back up, insurance, accommodation and even his kit, including an extremely expensive bike which he will have to transport to Australia.
It has therefore been our great pleasure to help Jake out with support towards some of his expenses by sponsoring the cost of his Team GB Tri-suit and Hoodie, along with free medical cover for any injury niggles or worries leading up to his departure. We have known Jake and members of his family for many years and are so pleased to be able to support him in his dream to compete for Team GB.
